Wedding Wednesdays – Eat Cake for Breakfast!

It’s Wedding Wednesday & National Dessert Day! We celebrated with chocolate chip cookies, I’m wearing OPI “I Cannoli Wear OPI” on my nails and I’m talking wedding cakes tonight. Sometimes, life just works.

I figured wedding cakes would be a fun topic because I’ve done almost no research on this yet and I’m not entirely sure what I want to do so suggestions are very welcome!

First of all, we’re doing brunch, so we don’t technically NEED cake… But, as Kate Spade once said (or at least printed on a bunch of mugs)… EAT CAKE FOR BREAKFAST! So, we will.

Of the 1,000+ wedding cake pins I’ve pinned since before we were even engaged, I think I’ve decided I want a simple white cake with some flowers and a cute gold topper. With only 35-ish people on the guest list, I’m not quite sure we even need two tiers, but I do love the way a tiered cake looks. I’ve also thought about doing something fun like a funfetti cake but I almost feel like I should have a “normal” flavor for everyone. I’ve also considered cupcakes, because that’s pretty fun and it’s a super small wedding. Or should we just do a “sweets table” and give everyone the option?

Obviously, that’s an aggressive amount of sweets for the small group we’re having. I’m not saying we couldn’t do it… but you know…

So what do you guys think? Cake? Cupcakes? Dessert table? Did you have a “crazy” flavor for your wedding cake or have you been to a wedding with a fun flavored cake? Follow me on Pinterest and send me some fun wedding cake ideas!

I would say the traditional would be better. Go for a wedding cake.

Thanks, Fatima! I’m leaning that way 🙂

I’m currently researching cakes at the moment as well, and I think tiers are the way to go – you don’t have to have massive tiers, just enough for your guests, then you can still get the cake cutting photo x
